This is an albatross chick. They're are all over the island and so stinkin' cute. Once I found out that the island was covered in them I knew I had to come here.
The parents take turns on the nest and then after the chick reaches a certain age (usually when he's big enough to snap at someone) the parents go out to get food and come back and are sometimes with the chick but often the chick is left alone for periods of time.
Where are his parents? I know that parents are taking care of their youngsters for period of almost 12 months.
